When it's time to crown another college football championship, the fans of each team aren't the only ones fired up. With the whole country watching, oddsmakers put on their thinking caps to flood the betting boards with creative wagers that will entice you to make college football picks against the spread. With power conferences squaring off, power ratings give an accurate reflection of what the side and total should be.
But there are still plenty of weak numbers to attack and multiple ways to win money. There can be edges with the entire game or the first half lines, team totals, and dozens of props on individual players. So how to find these betting nuggets? Once place you can look is at my CFB consensus data, this si real-time data on where the public is betting each week during the college football season.
Why Use Free College Football National Championship Picks
There are going to be TV analysts breaking down the championship game all week long, but don't pay much attention. Their focus is always on what just happened in the previous game. For championship week, it would be the battle between the top four that advance from the final rankings.
But those games don't tell us what is likely to happen in the title game. This is where professional handicappers excel, digging through the statistical matchups and, like a coach, identifying weak areas that can be exploited.
Adding free College Football National Championship picks gives you pregame analysis that not only projects who should win the game but what betting numbers are the most attractive.
Betting Value in Free College Football National Championship Picks
With different conferences facing each other, the team with NFL talent on offense can be worth a look Over the team total points scored. And if both teams have their best talent on defense, the first half Under can offer value if the oddsmakers are anticipating bettors playing the Over expecting a high scoring final.
Of course, the best wagering value is often with all the prop bets available. After analyzing a college football prop matchup, come up with your own number and then compare it to the actual prop. If it's off quite a bit, examine it again as you may have overlooked something. Or maybe you didn't overlook it: maybe you found a soft number that's worth exploiting.
Wunderdog Free College Football National Championship Picks
Handicapping the CFB bowls is different from the regular season as some teams can have suspect interest and motivation. But that's not the case for the college football playoffs where four teams play two games to win a championship. I know how to evaluate matchups and have power ratings weighed for all the various college conferences.
The sides, totals, and props that I release have clear reasoning behind them along with what I see as weak to bad posted oddsmaker numbers. You can back the same releases I'm playing, or read my in-depth analysis to hone your handicapping skills.

How To Win With Free College Football National Championship Picks
Begin by not listening - not listening to all the network hype about who the better team is and how the game should unfold. Oddsmakers put up opening numbers based partly on what happened the previous week.
If Team A blew Team B out of the water then a few extra points will be attached to Team A next week. It's an overreaction. It's best to focus on the season stats, matchup angles, and coaching track records than to get too carried away with what happened last weekend. And don't ignore all the proposition bets that will pop up a few days before kickoff.
Obtaining free College Football National Championship picks allows you to zone in on a handful of the top props, team totals, or first-half wagers that a pro handicapper has isolated.
College Football National Championship Betting Strategy
Similar Opponents
Examine how the national championship teams fared against the same opponents or conferences. If a team with a great running attack is playing for the title, check how that ground game did against the best run defenses it faced, even going back to last season.
Maybe they haven't played an elite run defense, implying that the star running back might not be as good as his stats suggest. Two things stand out when teams play in the national championship game after meeting during the regular season:
1) The losing coach has a different game plan; 2) they're usually defensive games. Five of the last six times teams played a rematch in the title game it went UNDER the total, including Alabama shutting out LSU (21-0) and Georgia beating 'Bama (33-18). In those two recent games, the national champion had lost the regular-season matchup.
How Many Passing TDs Will a QB Have?
There are plenty of good situations for this prop to go OVER 1.5, 2, or 2.5 TD passes. Oddsmakers are going to make this number based largely on how many touchdowns the quarterback has averaged all season.
The key is to determine if the matchup favors a balanced offense, a run-oriented style, or will the QB have to pass all night long? If he's facing a mediocre run defense, the game plan should lean on a balanced attack or more running, limiting the potential number of TD passes.
But if he's matched up against an elite run defense, then the QB is more likely to have to pass for touchdowns even when they're in the red zone. What you're assessing is the likelihood that a quarterback's season averages are going to be the same or skewed differently based on the opponent. Any differences open the door to wagering value.
Team Total Points Scored
This prop bet is under the radar compared to the full game side and total but is always worth a look. The odds are going to be based on the team's scoring average, but will they meet it? It depends on the defense that they're facing and what the ebb and flow of the game will be.
An offense is less inclined to reach its scoring average against a Top 10 defense. The ultimate pace of the game must be considered, too. Does it appear that the two teams will play ball-control in the first half trying to hog the clock? Or does one coach prefer to come out in attack mode letting it fly?
If one team gets up 10-0 or 17-3, it forces the opponent to change game plans and become more aggressive to get back into it. That will help OVER bettors. But if it's a 7-7 game, both coaches might play it more conservative afraid to make the first mistake aiding UNDER bettors.
