The pressure is on many NCAA college football teams in Week 10. It's the final stretch for conference titles, winning seasons, and bowl opportunities, along with annual rivalry showdowns. The top teams are focused on staying in the Top 25 while the Top 10 teams are hoping to get selected to play for the national championship playoff round.

Interest and motivation are key handicapping factors when trying to identify teams and college football picks (ATS) that can cover the Vegas number. Season stats are one piece of that puzzle but there are many more, including ones that carry more weight. It's about gathering all the faces and weighing the right information to determine the best betting opportunities.

Why Use Free College Football Week 10 Picks

A lot of betting numbers accurately reflect what will transpire. Just run through some of the final scores and compare them to what the betting line was. Many sides and totals land right around the projected number or are decided late in the game.

A successful bettor needs to examine the college football matchups, situations, and what's at stake for both teams very carefully. In one Week 10 battle, Central Michigan was trying to keep pace with Northern Illinois in the MAC West and hosted a powerhouse Kent State offense with the total at 75.5. That's a high NCAA college football total, but the oddsmakers weren't that far off in a 54-30 Central Michigan win at home.

Analyzing on-the-field matchups are more informative than betting trends. Coming into that game, Kent State was on a 13-5 spread run in MAC action but didn't come close to covering. Getting the analysis and opinion of a longtime professional expands your handicapping knowledge, not only on what games to wager on but what to look for and why.

Betting Value in Free College Football Week 10 Picks

Motivation is a huge asset late in the season when trying to predict spread covers. Totals, too, can offer excellent value and are overlooked by most bettors who wager just for the fun. While the CFB betting public loves to see high-scoring games go OVER the total, defenses can rise up with outstanding performances in Week 10 showdowns between teams vying for conference championships.

Oklahoma went to Baylor went in one of those Week 10 Top 25 Big 12 battles, with the Sooners 6-0 in the conference, the Bears 4-2. Baylor had lost seven straight in the series but was home and hungry for a signature victory of the season as well as keeping alive their hopes for a berth in the Big 12 title game.

They got it as both defenses were on their game in a 27-14 Baylor win that sailed far UNDER the total of 62.5. Baylor was +175 on the college football moneyline, showing how motivated CFB home underdogs possess value with the number and to win the game straight up.

The picks that I release are rich with in-depth analysis and insight. It's not about a warm fuzzy feeling about who might cover, but cold, calculated stats, angles, and matchups.

There are a handful of teams I root for being a longtime college football fan, but I have no compunction wagering against my teams if the wagering value is on the other side. Week 10 is make-or-break time for teams on the bowl bubble, while others have given up on the season providing ample winning opportunities.

How To Win With Free College Football Week 10 Picks

Motivated and disinterested teams are rampant by the time Week 10 rolls around. Assess the matchups on sides and totals with the same approach you've used all season, but also assess if each team is as motivated to play as they were in Week 4.

If a team is on the bowl bubble or within striking distance of a regular season conference title then they will be motivated to play hard. But many Week 10 teams have no shot at either and that can trump overall season stats and matchups.

A team down 21-0 at the half can be motivated to fight hard in the second half early in the season to work on things that can help them the next week. But by Week 10, with a lost season winding down, a team down 21-0 can easily think, "What difference does it make if we lose 24-13 or 45-0?" That's a big difference when it comes to finding teams capable of covering after four quarters.

Adding free College Football Week 10 Picks to your arsenal from a respected pro will give insight into what teams are still likely to be playing hard and those that have already packed in the season.

Winning Seasons and Bowl Opportunities

Most college football teams celebrate clinching a winning season and a bowl. It's a goal before the first game is even played to end up with a winning campaign and get rewarded with a bowl invitation, so the school has reason to celebrate.

Many coaches also have an urgency to squeeze out as many wins as possible for job security. Part of a coach's job is to come up with ways to challenge players to give their best effort each week, even at halftime after a sloppy or lackluster first half.

In one recent Week 10, Middle Tennessee State had just dropped to 4-5 after losing to the top team in the conference, Western Kentucky, 48-21. They came home and were an 11-point favorite against Florida International and ended up with their biggest win of the season, 50-10.

The Blue Raiders had a string of situational factors in their favor: home field, off a terrible beating, needing a win to get to .500 to keep their bowl hopes alive. There was the motivation for a strong performance across the board and they delivered - both straight up and against the number.

Top 10 Pressure

Teams battling to stay in the Top 25 and Top 10 are having strong seasons but it also brings added pressure. They're certainly motivated to play well, but at times that's actually a double-edged sword. Surprise teams that weren't expected to be in the Top 25 likely had weak areas before the season started.

Oddsmakers have to give them respect on betting lines, but that could mean they're overvalued late in the season if they still have deficiencies that have been masked over by winning a bunch of close games. Weak areas get exposed just as good fortune can turn around quickly.

Wake Forest came out of nowhere in one recent season winning its first 8 games. However, the defense wasn't very good, winning three of those games despite allowing 34, 37, and 56 points. The defensive flaws were exposed losing three of their final five, falling out of the Top 10 to finish No. 22 in the country.

In addition, if a team is undefeated coming into Week 10, there's the added pressure of trying to run the table, which is very hard to accomplish. That same season, Cincinnati was 9-0 in Week 10 and a 24-point favorite over a 2-7 South Florida squad. It was 38-28 late in the game as the Bearcats eventually won, 45-28, but failed to cover.

Go-Against Teams

The average bettor loves to play favorites, so by Week 10 those are usually good teams with winning records. However, savvy handicappers know there's just as much value in going against certain teams - and even more value if they've given up while winding down a disappointing, losing campaign.

Some teams have had coaches already fired and have interim coaches, with the uncertainty of not knowing who's going to be running the football program next season. Other teams have lost their starting quarterbacks to an injury sinking their season, while others have no shot at a bowl and are more interested in getting the season over with while staying healthy.

In that Middle Tennessee State example I just gave, the losing team - Florida International - was 1-8 playing on the road with no shot at a winning season. They lost their last five games by 38, 23, 40, 42, and 20 points. It pays to have a list of teams that have something to play for and those that appear disappointed or unmotivated.
