The Colorado Avalanche was a playoff team last year and are off to a 6-2-2 start this season, and appear to be poised for a playoff return in 2018-19. The recent play has not been at the same level as their 3-1 start as they have been a breakeven team over their last six and the Avalanche suffered a shutout their last time on the ice. Ottawa started slowly but has found momentum, having won three of their last four and the offense has been very steady.
