Las Vegas is hoping Pete Carroll's optimism can translate into some wins, and the Raiders are fortunate to get New England, a team coming off consecutive 4-13 seasons, for their opener. The Patriots lost six of their final seven games in 2024, and they are 1-5 ATS in their past six as favorites. The fact that the Raiders are underdogs in this matchup should give Carroll some bulletin board material in his first game as head coach of Las Vegas. He has an experienced and familiar quarterback in Geno Smith, who played for Carroll when he coached the Seahawks. Smith played all 17 games last year and finished with 4,320 passing yards and 21 touchdowns, but also had 15 interceptions for Seattle. The Raiders are also counting on first-round pick Ashton Jeanty to spark the running game. Las Vegas has gone UNDER five of its past six games, and New England only averaged 17 points per game last season, which actually was an improvement from 14 the year before.
