LOSS

The Green Bay Packers have to be thankful for Aaron Rodgers. We all saw what happened last year without him, and last week he snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with an impressive drive and score with :03 seconds on the clock for a hard fought 3-point win in Miami. While Green Bay is 4-2, the numbers are ugly. The defense ranks #19 in yards allowed, and has trouble getting off the field as they have allowed opposing offenses to convert 47.6% of their third downs. The offense is generating the 26th most yards in the NFL, and the combination of offensive inconsistencies and defensive lapses are going to catch up to this team. Cam Newton finally appears to be healthy for Carolina. Last week he ran the ball 17 times for 107 yards, leading to 37 points for Carolina. It's the first time all season we have seen that from him. I think in the end, his dual-threat ability will help the defense by keeping them off the field longer, and Green Bay hasn't been able to stop the run or the pass, and is in a dangerous spot laying a TD here. Carolina is 6-0 ATS the past three seasons as a road dog in this range (+3.5 to +7 points). The Packers are just 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight at home and they may be 4-2 straight-up this year, but the numbers say that they aren't a dominating team. Take the points on Carolina.
