Carolina's hopes obviously rest on Cam Newton's ability to return from a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the final two games of the 2018 season. The Panthers also must rebuild an offensive line that was beset with injuries as well as find a backup quarterback if Newton is slow to return. Those issues will be the focus of the preseason, which doesn't bode well for scoring a lot of points - especially in the first couple games. The quarterback rotation after Newton consists of Taylor Heinicke, rookie Will Grier and Kyle Allen. Heinicke got into seven games last season and completed 36-of-58 for 330 yards and a touchdown with three interceptions. Allen signed as an undrafted free agent and played two games and completed 20-of-31 for 22 yards and two touchdowns. Chicago had the NFL's best defense last year, but the offense was average at best and Mitch Trubisky still has a ways to go to prove he is an NFL-caliber quarterback. Chase Daniel and Tyler Bray back him up and although Daniel has played eight years in the league, he has played in only 16 games the last five seasons. Bray has much experience on practice squads and preseason, but he has played in only one regular season game and attempted one pass. Look for this matchup to stay UNDER the total and play it as a Max Play.
