Detroit at New York

The defending champions are 0-3, the first to start that way since the 2011-12 Mavericks. They lost by 6, 4, and 9 points. The last one got away from an 86-76 lead with 9:20 left, when Orlando outscored New York 35-16 the rest of the way, and the Knicks committed eight of their 14 turnovers in the fourth quarter. Jalen Brunson is shooting 39.1% through three games after wrist surgery this summer. The Knicks are scoring 101.7 per game and allowing 108.0, and their three games finished with 206, 210 and 213 combined points. Detroit is 3-0 and scoring 118.3 points per game. Jalen Duren was in the lineup for the 121-113 win over Boston and was hurt in the 128-111 win at Miami. Sunday's 106-93 win at Philadelphia was the first game without him and Ausar Thompson. It was Detroit's lowest point total of the season, and the Pistons held the 76ers to 93. Karl-Anthony Towns had 22 points and 14 rebounds against Orlando, and now he'll face a Detroit lineup without its starting center.
