Texas Tech plays its first road game. They're off to a 3-0 start but haven't been tested. In five road games last season, they had wins by six points, one point, and six points, while losing at Washington State (37-16) and TCU (35-34). They were favored at Washington State, but lost their bowl game against Arkansas (39-26) despite being favored. No. 16 Utah presents a formidable challenge. The offense has been impressive with new offensive coordinator Jason Beck and dual-threat QB Devon Dampier (7 TDs, no INTs), who helped New Mexico rank fourth nationally in total offense in 2024. The defense has talent and depth. This is a bounce-back season for Utah after going 5-7 last year, so look for a considerable effort by the talented and balanced home team. Play Utah.
