Temple at Massachusetts

Massachusetts is back in the MAC with high hopes that new head coach Joe Harasymiak can turn its fortunes around after a successful stint with Maine. The Minutemen return 11 starters and added several transfers among 28 new players overall. Grant Jordan totaled 1,938 passing yards and 22 TDs with only three interceptions with Yale in 2024 before transferring to UMass. He also rushed for 360 yards and seven TDs. UMass is counting on Harasymiak to improve a defense that allowed 36 points per game, as he has previously served as a defensive coach at Minnesota and Rutgers. Temple has lost 16 of its past 20 games, and the Owls have lost 20 road games in a row. They have won exactly three games in each of the past four seasons while averaging 19.7 points. The Owls are 1-5 ATS against MAC opponents, and they have lost six of eight Week 1 games. K.C. Keeler is the new head coach for Temple, which will have a quarterback competition between Evan Simon and Gevani McCoy. Simon started nine games last season and threw 15 TD passes along with 2,032 yards. The Minutemen covered four of their last five games in 2024, and they are expected to be much improved this year.
