Temple at Akron

Temple is better than it looked in the opener against a Big 10 team on the road. Four starters are back on an offensive line that allowed just 12 sacks and a league-low 1.7 per game last season, while new, 6-6 QB D'Wan Mathis transfers in from the Georgia Bulldogs where he threw 30 passes in 2020. He shared time with fellow freshman QB Justin Lynch last week. Temple is 11-4 ATS after a spread loss and 47-17 ATS after allowing less than 170 yards passing in the last game. Akron had an even tougher opener, losing 60-10 at Auburn. Akron is rebuilding again after averaging 17 points last season with a terrible passing attack (4 TDs with 6 picks). They lost five of six games in 2020 by scores of 58-13, 24-10, 69-35, 38-7, and 56-7. And two years ago, they lost all 12 games, including scores of 45-24, 35-7, 49-0, 35-6, 42-14, and 52-3.
