LOSS

Stanford is for real, stuffing USC (17-3) and last week winning at Oregon (38-31). They have great balance on offense behind QB K.J. Costello (10 TDs, three picks), off a 327 yard passing game, while the defense is #10 in the nation in points allowed (13.5 pg). The Cardinal are 29-14-1 ATS after getting 280+ yards passing in their previous game. They face a Notre Dame squad that is fortunate to be 4-0, squeezing out wins over Michigan, Ball State and Vanderbilt. The offense is the problem, as they have rotated two quarterbacks who have combined for four TDs, four INTs. They think they've found the answer in QB Ian Book, who carved up Wake Forest last week in his first start. But that was a Wake defense ranked #106 in points allowed and #121 against the pass. And Wake Forest was able to get 259 yards rushing on offense. The Fighting Irish are 2-6 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. The underdog has covered six straight meetings between these rivals, with Stanford rolling 38-20 last November. Take Stanford.
