SMU at East Carolina

SMU is a storied program, one that had to survive the death penalty all the way back in 1987 and 1988. That was preceded by four seasons which saw the Mustangs go 40-5 SU, but a return to glory has never occurred. They have never won more than eight games since, and four of the previous 13 seasons left them with one win or less. The program is on the rebound, however, after posting a 3-21 mark the last two years, the four wins this year top the total from the last two years. Even a Bowl game opportunity is within their grasp. East Carolina has had a rough year. The Pirates only win since Week Two was vs. a UConn team that has lost five straight games. SMU has had enough to knock off Houston this season, and I think we have a false favorite in this game. East Carolina has been brutal in conference play, logging a woeful 4-17 ATS mark the last three years. Take the points on SMU.
