San Diego State blew out East Texas A&M in last year's opener, then scored a total of 10 points in losses to Oregon State (21-0) and Cal (31-10). So, don't read too much into last week's 42-0 win over Stony Brook. Last season, the offense averaged 21.3 points, ranking No. 116 in the country. New QB Jayden Denegal was a backup at Michigan. The SDSU defense is more of a known commodity with the return of its top four tacklers. Pass-happy Washington State lost QB John Mateer, so sophomore Jaxon Potter steps in, along with first-year coach Jimmy Rogers. They were a 16-point favorite in the opener but squeezed out a 13-10 win over Idaho. The passing game was all short, while the ground game was nonexistent, with only three yards rushing on 22 carries. Take San Diego State/Washington State UNDER the total.
