Sam Houston State at Oregon State

Winless Sam Houston State is right there with UMass as the worst FBS team in the country. So why back the 0-8 Bearkats? Because Oregon State is a bottom-40 team laying too many points, especially coming off an emotionally hard-fought, 10-7, victory against their lone Pac-10 Conference rival, Washington State. The Beavers are on a two-game winning streak since they defeated Lafayette, an FCS team from the Patriot League, before beating the Cougars. That puts Oregon State's record at 2-7. Yet the Beavers can't be blamed for feeling good about themselves right now. It will be hard for them to get motivated to play the Bearkats. Sam Houston State, though, has nothing to lose. The bar certainly is not set high for the Bearkats to stay within this significant point spread. Oregon State averages fewer than 20 points a game. Defensively, the Beavers rank 106th in scoring defense, giving up 29.9 points a game. Only three of Sam Houston State's losses have come by more than 18 points. The Bearkats stayed within 18 points of UNLV, Hawaii, Western Kentucky, UTEP, and Jacksonville State. Take Sam Houston State.
