LOSS

The Pittsburgh Panthers looked like a team that had no chance to make it to a Bowl game early in the season. They opened at home as an -18.5 point favorite against Youngstown State and were embarrassed, losing handily 31-17. They then went on the road vs. Big East rival Cincinnati and were humiliated 34-10. That would be the worst of their season, as they rebounded nicely to not suffer another double-digit loss the rest of the way. They took No. 1 Notre Dame on the road to overtime, beat Virginia Tech and knocked off a solid Rutgers team 27-6. Ole miss finished at 6-6 also, but their six wins were comprised of five teams that were pretty awful. And, their lone signature win was the Egg Bowl rivalry with Mississippi State. The Panthers can really bring it on defense, where they allowed just 9 points in their last two games. On the season held seven of their last 10 opponents to 17 points or less. While the defense was winning the games, the offense produced 27 points or less in eight games, including each of the last four. Pittsburgh needed to win their last two to become Bowl eligible, and teams having done so are 10-3 ATS in Bowl games. Take Pitt. Also take the UNDER. The Panthers are 9-2 to the UNDER after a win by 20 points or more, and their last six Bowl games have played UNDER the total. They are also 14-1 UNDER in their last 15 road games vs. good offenses (teams that average 425+ yards per game). Ole Miss is 4-1 to the UNDER following a win and 18-7 UNDER in their last 25 road games following an OVER. Play on Pittsburgh and take the UNDER in this one.
