The bowl season kicks off with the Myrtle Beach Bowl, and Appalachian State has won all five of its bowl games since joining the FBS, but the Mountaineers are only 3-2 ATS, including a non-cover as a 17.5-point favorite in their 31-17 victory over UAB in the 2019 New Orleans Bowl. North Texas has the offense to keep this one close as it led Conference USA in nearly every offensive category while scoring 35.1 points per game. However, the Mean Green quarterback, Austin Aune, who threw for 1,650 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, will not play for an undisclosed reason. Jason Bean will start on Monday and he actually is a bigger running threat. Bean has thrown for 880 yards and 12 touchdowns along with 336 rushing yards and five TDs, and he has started North Texas' last four games. Appalachian State QB Zac Thomas has thrown for 2,075 yards and 19 touchdowns, but he also has been picked off 11 times this season after a combined 12 the previous two years. The Mountaineers are just 2-9 ATS this year and laying too many points in this matchup. Play North Texas.
