Syracuse started the season 4-0 against mostly weak competition, but then ran into Clemson and Pittsburgh and lost both with the Pitt game going into overtime. North Carolina came close to upsetting Virginia Tech losing 22-19 as a 6.5-point underdog last week as the Tar Heels' defense played its best game of the year. The Tar Heels outyarded the Hokies 522-375 and gained 235 yards on the ground on offense for 6.2 yards per carry. Michael Carter rushed for 165 yards on 18 carries for an impressive 9.17 yards per rush. Nathan Elliott and Cade Fortin split time at quarterback and they combined for 21-of-33 for 244 yards and a touchdown for the Tar Heels. Syracuse allowed 265 rushing yards to the Panthers on 5.6 yards per carry and QB Eric Dungey completed only 18-of-38 for 195 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. North Carolina is 6-0 ATS its last six games following a bye week and are 5-1 ATS its last six conference games. The Tar Heels are 5-1 ATS their last six versus teams with winning records and 6-2-1 ATS their last nine overall dating to last season. The Orange is 2-5 ATS after an ATS loss and 0-4 ATS its last four when following any loss. The Tar Heels have done a decent job overcoming injuries and suspensions and are getting too many points here. Take the points on North Carolina.
