Missouri State at Marshall

Missouri State stepped up to play USC in the opener and got bombed, 73-13. However, this is a good team with a terrific offense, going 8-4 last year. QB Jacob Clark returns after throwing 26 touchdowns and six interceptions in 2024, when Missouri State was third in the nation in passing efficiency, averaging 425 yards and 35 points per game. Marshall plays its home opener after getting ripped at Georgia, 45-7. Marshall is rebuilding everywhere under first-year coach Tony Gibson. Syracuse transfer QB Carlos Del Rio-Wilson was expected to be the starter, but they went with redshirt freshman QB JacQai Long in the opener. There are also new linebackers who lack experience.
