LOSS

The Badgers are off their first loss of the season, dropping a 10-point decision to unbeaten Michigan State. The Spartans have proven to be a very good team so that loss isn't too concerning for Wisconsin-backers. As a result of that loss, I expect the Badgers to be focused and out for blod here. They will take on Minnesota and a Golden Gophers program that has fallen on hard times. The Gophers barely got by Middle Tennessee State on the road in their opener, and it took a late TD to avoid an outright loss. Then things got worse. In week two they played host to Div-1AA South Dakota, and lost outright as a 29.5 favorite. While a loss to USC is certainly understandable, losing to Northern Illinois and Northwestern gives the Gophers three bad losses already. Facing a solid Wisconsin team that is angry off a loss is not going to be the remedy. Adam Webber has already passed for 1,200 yards, and has multiple quality targets in Gray, McKnight and Lair who have combined for eight TDs. The Golden Gophers are not so golden after an ATS win as they are 1-8 ATS in their last nine games. The Badgers are eating up the easy prey at home with a 6-1 ATS mark in their last seven here vs. a team with a losing record. The Golden Gophers have covered just two of their last six in this matchup, including 1-4 ATS at Wisconsin. Wisconsin wins big here and covers the number.
