Iowa appears to have the all-important motivational edge as Vanderbilt missed out on the College Football Playoff and its star quarterback, Diego Pavia, finished second in the Heisman Trophy race. The Commodores had to settle for the Reliaquest Bowl while the Hawkeyes are on a roll, winning five of seven, and the two losses were to Oregon and USC. The Hawkeyes ended the regular season with a 40-16 rout of Nebraska, totaling 379 yards of offense, including 213 on the ground. Kirk Ferentz has a good offense to go along with his always great defenses, as Iowa averages 28.9 points per game. That is quite a difference from a three-year run of scoring 18.6 points per game from 2021 to 2023. The Hawkeyes are #6 in the country, allowing 15.2 points per game, and Pavia could meet his match as the Hawkeyes have yielded just seven TD passes this season. Vanderbilt tight end Eli Stowers has opted out, and he totaled 769 receiving yards this year. I'm calling the upset. Take Iowa on the moneyline.
