The future is now for Colorado. Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders is turning to true freshman QB Julian Lewis to start against West Virginia. The 3-6 Buffaloes are looking for a spark after losing to Utah and Arizona by a combined score of 105-24. Lewis saw his first extended playing time last week against Arizona and completed 9 of 17 passes for 121 yards with a touchdown. West Virginia is also 3-6 overall and just 1-5 in the Big 12. The Mountaineers, though, are in a letdown spot after upsetting Houston, 45-35, as a 12.5-point road underdog last week. That ranks among the bigger upsets in the Big 12 this season. The Mountaineers had lost their first five conference games by an average of more than 23 points. The only other time this season the Mountaineers were favored was by 3.5 points against Ohio, and they lost, 17-10. West Virginia is also going with freshman quarterback Scotty Fox Jr. The Buffaloes are hoping to salvage their season by winning this and their next two games to reach a bowl game in back-to-back seasons for the first time in 20 years. Take Colorado.
