The 22nd-ranked Tulane Green Wave can clinch a spot in the American Conference's title game with a victory here against 1-10 Charlotte. That should not be too hard to do for Tulane. But it will be considerably more difficult for the Green Wave to cover a number this large, the biggest by far they've been favored by this season. Tulane has been a double-digit favorite five times in its last 14 games. The Green Wave is 1-4 ATS in those games. Charlotte actually is stepping down in class. The 49ers had to play fourth-ranked Georgia on the road last week in front of more than 93,000 fans. That was the largest crowd Charlotte had ever been a part of. No, the 49ers didn't come close to winning. But they did cover as 42.5-point underdogs in a 35-3 loss. The 49ers have the capability of moving the ball through the air with quarterback Grayson Loftis and wide receiver Javen Nicholas, who has 700 receiving yards and five touchdown receptions. They can keep the back door open for Charlotte in this wide point-spread range. Tulane certainly has more important games on deck than going all out to run up a lopsided score against the 49ers. Take Charlotte.
