Cornell at Lehigh

Lehigh opened its season Monday with a 92-67 loss at Saint Louis. That game finished with 159 combined points, and the Billikens shot 60% from the field. Lehigh was held to 36% on 21 of 58, including 5 of 27 from three. The Mountain Hawks lost Nasir Whitlock, their best player a year ago, and their offense now runs through Hank Alvey on the block. Alvey posted up on the opening possession for the first points of the season. Post offense burns clock, and Lehigh scored 31 in the first half. Cornell won its opener 86-85 over Pepperdine, a 171-point game decided by a Jacob Beccles layup with 24 seconds left. Tonight is Lehigh's home opener, with the banner ceremony before tip-off. Lehigh's only game so far finished at a lower combined score than Cornell's. I expect Lehigh's post-first style to set the pace.
