You can find about 10 college basketball TV games on Thursday night out of around 20-to-30 that are being played. That's a lot of TV games for fans to choose from and for bettors to wager on. Casual bettors are focused on the big-name teams and the TV games as they want action while they watch. While this may be fun, it's not a way to turn a profit over the course of a season. That's a completely different approach from professional bettors, who are only interested in putting the percentages in their favor to make more than they bet.
Why Use Thursday Free College Basketball Picks
Bettors approach games from many different angles. Some handicappers use technical methods, such as stats and matchups. Others put an emphasis on betting trends and coaches, while others begin their handicapping by looking at the odds first. The numbers attached to those odds can vary from their own power ratings or their interest in what direction the line moves and by how much. All of these approaches have merit. It's about finding the approach that works best or that a person is either more comfortable with or has a talent for. Acquiring Thursday Free College Basketball Picks will help new bettors find what works best for them by explaining the reasons behind the play.
Betting Value in Thursday Free College Basketball Picks
There's wagering value all over the betting card as oddsmakers aren't going to get every side and total accurately. With roughly 10 college basketball TV games on a Thursday night, there will be ample proposition bets available. Prop bets are on how many points, rebounds, or assists an individual is going to get, or Over/Under how many points one team will get. In one recent Top 25 showdown on Thursday night, the Texas/Seton Hall total was 133.5 points with Seton Hall projected to score 67 points and Texas 66. As often happens in big showdowns, the defenses were great with everything going UNDER in a 64-60 Seton Hall win and cover at home. Handicappers incorporate team stats when assessing matchups but must also consider various situations involved. In that example, it was a huge game for both squads looking to stay in the Top 25. Both defenses excelled with so much at stake with the teams combining to go 6-of-34 from 3-point land!
Wunderdog Thursday Free College Basketball Picks
I've been watching, wagering, and winning at sports betting for over 20 years. It takes a lot of work and study, but anyone can improve their handicapping skills by applying the right strategies and doing the homework. It's a serious business with real money on the line. My releases contain in-depth analysis explaining the reasons why this is the right side, total, or prop. I also explain something overlooked by many betting services: the correct use of a money management investment strategy. That ties into the kind of betting discipline needed if you want to increase your bankroll incrementally over the long haul, which is what I'm in business to accomplish - and my track record proves it.

Parlays
Basketball parlays are like wolverines - you need to handle them with care and hope you don't meet them too often. The betting returns are great, putting two or more teams on one bet for a nice payday. But they're very challenging to win and the odds are still working against you. A four-team parlay payout is 11-to-1, but the true odds of hitting one are one out of every 15 times. Going 0-and-14 before you finally hit one means you've lost a lost of money. It's better to choose your parlay spots very carefully and have sound reasons behind each team. It's also a good idea to limit parlays to two of three teams and to utilize them creatively. For instance, if you have identified a college basketball underdog at +140 that has a reasonable chance of winning the game, you can parlay that with two favorites of minus-300 and -400 that you also believe should win. That three-team moneyline payout would be +300 if it cashed, twice that of the +140 single moneyline play on the underdog.
Home Court Advantage
Since home court is such a significant edge in college basketball, think about utilizing home teams on a limited parlay. College basketball has the most extreme home/road breakdowns of all the sports. Many teams are competitive to great at home but play like a totally different team on the road. The atmosphere in college basketball is electric, with college kids cheering their team on packed into a small arena. 6,000 fans can sound like 30,000 making it a challenge for visiting teams to get comfortable and play their best. In one recent season in the MAC, Kent State has a losing spread record on the road but was 8-4-1 ATS at home. Fellow MAC school Bowling Green had a winning home record (9-7) though just 6-8 ATS, but was a money-burning 3-10 straight up, 3-11 ATS on the road. That's one reason why junior and senior leadership can be so essential at the beginning of a season and during tournament action. Experienced teams have been through a lot of road games facing hostile crowds and can react far less negatively than a team loaded with freshmen and sophomores.
Moneylines
Moneyline ignores the point spread as all you're wagering on is what team will win the game. There are three key factors to examine when trying to pick a college basketball Moneyline winner: Matchups, situations, and home court. If an underdog has excellent guard play and the favorite has a slow or turnover-prone backcourt, that's a matchup edge for the underdog. Situations are worth weighing, as well. If a team comes off an emotional win, such as over a rival or a double-overtime game, that situation can work against them in the next game. Homecoming or Senior Night are two other examples of college basketball situations that give an extra spark to the home team. And, of course, home court is something to keep in mind in every college game you look at. In the earlier Texas/Seton Hall example I gave, it was the home team, Seton Hall that won on the Moneyline, 64-60. That same night, state rivals Iowa and Iowa State locked horns and the No. 17 Cyclones won easily, 73-53, while Rutgers upset No. 1 Purdue, 70-68. The common thread - the home teams won all three of those games, even Rutgers as a 13-point home dog. Rutgers was 14-3 straight up at home that season, but 4-9 on the road. The Scarlet Knights celebrated after beating the top-ranked team for the first time in school history. The Rutgers starting five logged heavy minutes with the bench getting just 5 points. Obviously, home court was a huge advantage. So what did Rutgers do the next game when the situation was working against them? As a +9 underdog, they got whipped at Seton Hall, 77-63, trailing by 10 at the half. The star who had scored 30 points in the upset of Purdue shot just 3-of-12 against Seton Hall. Look at all of the key handicapping factors that came into play: home court, situations, emotion, and overworked starters.
