After a busy weekend, Monday is often a slow night for a lot of sports - but not college basketball. That's what happens when you have over 350 teams anxious to fill any network voids on the TV schedule. This is a big plus for college basketball fans cramming gyms on game night. It's an even bigger plus for sports handicappers in the never-ending pursuit of turning soft odds into hard cash.
Why Use Monday Free College Basketball Picks
Finding those edges against the spread begins with stockpiling and reading through information. Depending on how much time you have to put into it, that would include team stats, examining schedules and power ratings, and reading up on gameday previews along with local beat writers who cover the teams. Then you examine the numerical opinions put up by the oddsmakers. Not just sides, but totals, moneylines, and, if offered, proposition wagers. Reading publications and newsletters such as Monday Free College Basketball Picks adds to your insight. All of that is melded together in an attempt to narrow down the teams that are in optimal situations for the top wagering options.
Betting Value in Monday Free College Basketball Picks
Matchups are one way of identifying the best picks on the card. If a great defensive team is facing a suspect defensive unit, the team with the superior defense has an edge. The better defensive team is probably going to score more points on offense than they normally do. In addition, if the better defensive team is an underdog, it's possible the oddsmakers are undervaluing them. Finally, examine how the superior defensive team is with totals, such as 10-3 UNDER the total for the season, or 5-2 UNDER on the road. The total may provide a better value than the side. Handicapping is all about sifting through the information, making an assessment if one team has strengths that can expose the opponent, and estimating what the final score might be in relation to the actual betting line posted.

How To Win with Monday Free College Basketball Picks
Acquiring the most important information on games is the right start to winning in NCAA college basketball. It also helps to have sound betting advice from a documented wagering expert. I have 20+ years of winning experience battling professional oddsmakers. Winning at sports betting is not easy, but it can be done. Wagering discipline is another essential element. Stick to similar amounts on each bet, such as 3, 4, or 5% of your bankroll. Stepping up and playing 40% on a big play or one that you personally prefer is poor money management. That kind of thinking will eventually blow up in your face wrecking months of building up your earnings. Winning at sports betting is like a patient, disciplined long-distance runner. The finish line is about having more money at the end of the regular season.

Small College Conferences
The public pays less attention to small conferences. TV games featuring big-name programs will get great ratings while smaller programs attract far fewer. So when there's line movement on lesser-known teams it can reveal a lot about who's wagering on it and why. When sharp money pops up on teams from conferences like the MAC, Big Sky, the Summit League, or the Sun Belt, the line will adjust. When that happens, take a closer look at the game to try and asses what those big-money Wise Guys see. And that applies to totals, as well, which often move even more than sides. It's more common to see games featuring lesser-known schools move a little bit or not at all. But when there is movement of 2 or more points, that's a sign more than a few people have jumped on an error by the oddsmakers.
Betting Trends
Betting trends are fun to examine but they're a mixed bag of information. If a college basketball team is on a 4-10 spread run they could be overvalued by oddsmakers or it could simply be an anomaly. They could be set to go on a 9-4 spread run, or 6-6 ATS, so be cautious. Where betting trends can be useful, though, is when there are reasons behind them. For instance, if the worst team defensive team in a conference is on a 9-3 run OVER the total there are reasons behind their high-scoring games. They can't stop anyone from scoring because they lack shot blockers up front or are slow to rotate defensively allowing high-percentage shots. Trends can also be useful when examining home/road splits. You can find teams that struggle to cover on the road but are pretty good or even great ATS at home. Again, there are reasons behind the trend. The team is comfortable at home or gives a great effort, but struggles to duplicate that on the road.
Home Teams on TV
In college football, it's common to see a team play its best game of the season on a Thursday or Friday night TV broadcast as it's the only time all season they're playing a national TV game in their home stadium. It's a big deal for the fans and the players. The same thing applies to college basketball. Even more so as there are so many games on TV basketball schedule. Many will showcase small conference teams that only get one or two chances for national TV exposure. The atmosphere for college basketball is electrifying with fans close to the court packed indoors in a small arena. The noise can intimidate visiting teams, which partly explains why so many college basketball teams play far better at home than on the road. In one recent campaign, New Orleans of the Southland Conference had a losing spread record on the road but was 10-2-1 ATS at home, and Murray State of the Ohio Valley Conference had a losing spread record (5-7 ATS) on the road but was 15-0 SU, 9-3-1 ATS at home. Home underdogs on national TV are worth a second look, with the potential to pull an upset cashing a nice payday on the Moneyline.
