Chicago at New York

New York is banged up in ways that don't show up in the standings. Satou Sabally has been out since a concussion in late June and won't be back until after the All-Star break; Leonie Fiebich has missed three weeks with a foot injury on the same timeline; and Marine Johannes is questionable with an ankle problem of her own. The Liberty have lost eight of their last eleven games because of it, and Monday's overtime survival at Dallas, the latest stop on a grueling road trip, is exactly the kind of emotionally taxing win that tends to leave a team flat in its next spot. Chicago is 9-17 and dealing with its own absences: Skylar Diggins and DiJonai Carrington are both out, and Rickea Jackson is done for the season, so this isn't a healthy underdog stealing a number from a full-strength favorite. It's two shorthanded rosters, and the number has come off its opener toward Chicago since the market opened, with smart money showing up on the Sky's price too. New York still has the deeper roster on talent, but talent hasn't been the story for this Liberty team in weeks. Chicago is the right side tonight.
