Las Vegas Aces vs New York Liberty Point Spread Picks

Las Vegas played the second half of a back-to-back in Minnesota on Saturday, and I faded the Aces into that letdown spot, and we cashed when the Lynx rolled by eleven. Today the situation flips. Vegas has to close that back-to-back on almost no rest and fly in to face a Liberty team that's had three days off, yet the number the market has hung on this game is a significant one for a club that still sits ahead of New York in the standings at 22-10 and has been excellent away from home this season at 13-5 on the road. New York is also playing shorthanded, without Satou Sabally, sidelined with a concussion, and Leonie Fiebich, out with a foot injury, thinning a defense that already ranks just ninth in the league in points allowed. Both offenses are humming: the Aces sit third in the league in scoring, the Liberty fourth, and their two meetings this season have produced combined totals of 163 and 203 points, an average of 183, comfortably clear of the posted total. Neither defense is built to slow this pace down, and Vegas carries enough shooting and firepower to hang within that kind of number even on tired legs, while the same shootout tendency and New York's thinned-out rotation point the same direction on the total. New York just delivered its best offensive performance in weeks, beating the Sparks 113-109 behind 29 points from Breanna Stewart. Las Vegas is already down a rotation piece for the year and carries three more players day-to-day, while New York is missing a wing and has two more questionable, including Satou Sabally. That gap is close enough that it shouldn't be deciding this number on its own. New York has actually solved this matchup twice already this season, and getting a number just over five points from a team it has beaten straight up both times is where the real value sits. Vegas opened catching a basket and a half, and now you’re getting nearly a touchdown. Losing the league’s leading scorer is real, but a four-point move on one name is the kind of overcorrection the market tends to make when a star sits, and the team catching those extra points is a Liberty club that can’t score right now. New York has lost both games it’s played since these two met, bottoming out Sunday at Golden State with 67. The Liberty are stingy on defense at 83.5 allowed a night, but so are the Aces at 86.4, and Vegas is 9-2 on the road even with everything going sideways. A full touchdown against an offense in this kind of rut is enough cushion to ride. The same math applies to the total. Take Wilson’s 25-plus off the board, layer in two strong defenses and a New York attack stuck in the mud, and there’s no engine to push this one up.
