Connecticut Sun vs Las Vegas Aces

Las Vegas is not close to being the quality team it has been the past few years, at least not yet, as the Aces have lost five of seven and they are on a 1-7 ATS run. They do come off an 89-81 victory over Indiana on Sunday, but that just sets them up for a letdown situation against Connecticut, which has won only two games. The Aces have covered just one of five home games and they are 1-7 ATS following a win dating to last season. The Sun are 4-1-1 ATS playing with two days rest and they have covered the number three of their past four games. This is a vulnerable spot for Las Vegas. Las Vegas opened with a 92-78 loss at New York, allowing 48.6% shooting and 56 points in the paint. They're on a 1-4-1 ATS run with two of their last three road games sailing OVER. Connecticut plays its second straight at home. The offense did well under new coach Rachid Meziane, scoring 85 points in the opener, including 44 points in the paint and 24 from the free-throw line. But the defense allowed 95 points and 51.6% shooting to Washington. The Sun led most of the way and only lost the lead in the final 5:38. Back the home dog in a high-scoring affair. It took most of the season, but Las Vegas finally is playing the kind of defense that has won championships and the Aces have won six of seven and the past five games have gone UNDER. The Aces have allowed only 73.3 points during that stretch and their 78-74 victory over Indiana on Friday stayed UNDER by 27 points. Both meetings this season have gone UNDER by an average of 16 points and the Aces shot only 38 percent while still defeating the Sun 72-67 on Sept. 6. Connecticut is 4-1 UNDER its past five games while allowing only 69.0 points per game. The Sun are 5-0 UNDER playing with one day of rest, 15-5-1 UNDER against the Western Conference and 8-2-1 UNDER after an ATS win. Las Vegas is 20-6 UNDER versus the Eastern Conference. Las Vegas has won seven of the past nine meetings, including an 85-74 win in the only meeting this season on June 21 and it went UNDER. The Aces had been shaky coming out of the Olympics break, but they now have won and covered three in a row following a 90-71 trouncing of Chicago on Tuesday. They shot 52 percent and were led by A'ja Wilson's 30 points. Connecticut comes off a 71-64 loss to Seattle and it stayed UNDER by 24 points. The Sun are 10-3 UNDER against Western Conference foes and 9-2 UNDER overall playing with two days rest. The Aces are 7-3 UNDER with two days rest and 9-4 UNDER their past 13 games overall. The Sun are a slight underdog in this matchup and they are 2-7 ATS their past nine home games. Take the Aces on the moneyline and the UNDER.

It's a difficult situational spot for Connecticut taking a long road trip. It's also their third road game over the last four contests. Connecticut leans on its defense as the offense is 10th in the league in 3-point shooting (30.4%) and from the charity stripe (76.8%). Las Vegas is tops in the WNBA in scoring (87.4 points per game) coming off a 94-83 victory over Seattle. They're also fourth in field goal shooting, third from long range (34.7%), and No. 1 from the free-throw line (84.5%). The wagering value is on the home team to win the game.
