Chicago Sky vs Seattle Storm Point Spread Picks

Chicago has spent the last two weeks finding new ways to lose games it led. The Sky ran off a 12-0 fourth-quarter run at Las Vegas on July 3 to force overtime, then scored four points in the extra session and lost by eight. Sunday at Dallas they led by eight in the fourth and lost 96-91, with Azura Stevens and Kamilla Cardoso both posting double-doubles in defeat. Courtney Vandersloot said it plainly afterward: they're not making the plays when they need to. Seattle is 6-19 and I'm not going to dress that up. This is a bad basketball team, and a worse one on the road. But they're 13-10 against the spread, and that gap between the record and the number is the whole point here. Natisha Hiedeman has scored at least 15 in four straight, including a career-high 31 on Sunday. The Storm have also won four straight meetings against Chicago, the most recent 79-69. Laying points with a 7-16 club that has handed away two straight fourth quarters is asking for more faith than this market deserves. We're on the Storm with the points this afternoon. 

Chicago's defense has allowed the third-most points (86.2 per game) in the WNBA. They're also 10th in the 13-team league in shooting allowed (44.94%). Angel Reese had 15 points and 20 rebounds in the last game, with Chicago second in offensive rebounds. Chicago is on a 4-2 run OVER the total, which coincides with Reese returning from a seven-game absence due to a back injury. Seattle's offense is fifth in shooting and from 3-point land (34.2%). Seattle is on a 10-4 run OVER the total, which included a 94-88 win over Chicago, sailing OVER by 24 points. Take Chicago/Seattle OVER the total. 

Seattle has gone OVER four of six, including its 85-82 loss to Phoenix on Sunday, even though the Storm missed 18 of 22 3-point tries. The Mercury shot 48 percent and had five double-figure scorers. Chicago went OVER against Golden State on Friday, but it was due to another poor defensive effort by the Sky, who have allowed an average of 84.8 points in their past four games. Angel Reese is still out with a back injury, and that has hurt the Sky on both ends of the court. Seattle put up 95 points in the only meeting this season on July 24. Take the OVER.

Chicago will attempt to snap a three-game skid as it takes on Seattle, which comes off an 87-63 shellacking at home against lowly Dallas. The Storm shot 31 percent and missed 17-of-21 3-point tries against the Wings, dropping to 3-7 ATS their past 10 games. Chicago has gone OVER four of five playing with one day's rest. Seattle is 1-5 ATS versus opponents with losing records and its past four outright losses have been against losing teams. The Sky have gone OVER three of four overall and they have sailed OVER four of five with one day of rest. Chicago is 13-9-1 OVER on the season. This is the first meeting this year. We'll look for an outright win for the Sky, and grab the OVER as a best bet. 

Chicago upset the Storm 88-84 as a 10-point underdog on Friday night and now the Sky gets a chance at a two-game sweep tonight. Chennedy Carter poured in 33 points and Angel Reese added 27 points for the Sky, who shot 47 percent and held Seattle to 3-for-19 from 3-point distance. The game sailed OVER by 10.5 points and five of the past seven meetings have gone OVER. Chicago is 8-2 OVER its past 10 games and four of the past five meetings at Seattle have gone OVER. The Storm is just 1-5 ATS at home against the Sky, whon have covered four of the past six meetings. Take the points with the Sky and the OVER.
