Atlanta Dream vs Tulsa Shock Point Spread Picks

Tulsa is in a mini-slump, but has overachieved on a 9-3 spread run, and has won 8 of 12 games. The Shock is second in the WNBA in points and rebounds. Tulsa is 5-2 ATS on the road and 7-1 ATS following a spread win. They end a four-game trip here and the Shock is 4-1 ATS when playing on three or more days of rest. They are adjusting to the loss of Skyler Diggins but have a deep roster. Riquna Williams took Diggins' spot in the starting lineup and scored 22 points the last game. Tulsa has extra motivation tonight as Coach Fred Williams coached the Dream to the 2013 WNBA Finals but didn't have his contract renewed before taking the job with Tulsa. They face a fourth place Atlanta squad that is 3-9 ATS following a spread win, plus 1-5 ATS working on one day of rest. The Dream rank #8 in the WNBA in scoring and have lost four of seven. Atlanta coach Michael Cooper was impressed with his club's defensive effort the last game and the team is 4-0 UNDER the total at home, plus on a 4-1 run UNDER overall. Atlanta is 3-2 straight-up on the season as an underdog, so this is a great spot for the visitors to steal a win in a defensive battle. The Atlanta Dream have coasted through the latter part of the season, due in large part to the fact that there is simply no team in the Eastern Conference that has been able to mount a significant challenge to them. They had their biggest game of the season last time out when they had to take on Phoenix at home. The Dream stepped up in a big way with a resounding 14 point win. There is no reason for them to show up here for this one, as they have all they needed to gain for their psyche accomplished in their last contest, heading to the playoffs. Tulsa has 12 wins on the season, which doesn't sound like much, but it is the most wins they have had since moving here from Detroit. I look for them to want to finish on a winning note in their last couple of games, and getting a win over the only winning team in the East would be a feel good here. The Dream are mailing it in vs. losing teams as they own a 2-8 ATS record in their last 10 against them. Take the points on Tulsa.

The WNBA is the ultimate example of the haves and the have nots this season. Just three teams have records of better than .500, while the rest of the league is all under the .500 mark. The season has just over two weeks to go, and all 12 teams are still alive for a playoffs spot, including Tulsa. Atlanta is the lone team from the East above .500, and they have such a big lead that they appear to have lost their focus. The Dream have been just 1-4 in their last five games, with three of the four losses to losing teams. Atlanta stands at just 5-5 on the season on the road vs. a losing team, as they play to the level of competition. They have a date with Phoenix in five days, and they are probably already looking ahead. Atlanta owns just a 9-21 ATS mark in their last 30 on the road, while the Shock are 17-8 ATS in their last 25 when following a win. Take the points on Tulsa.

Atlanta (10-4) and Chicago are battling for the top spot in the East. Atlanta is well rested for this one against a bad Tulsa team (5-13), having had three full days off, and the Dream is 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games playing on three or more days rest. This is the end of a four-game road trip, and they are hungry for a win riding a three-game skid, two of those losses were against the top teams in the West. Atlanta is on a 10-4 ATS run overall, and the Dream is 19-7 ATS against a team with a losing record. Atlanta knows how to play tough defense, too, allowing 72.1 ppg -- second best in the WNBA. They always turn up the defense after a defeat, with the UNDER 5-0 in the Dream's last five games following a loss.  Meanwhile, last place Tulsa has a losing record at home, is on a 2-5 ATS run, and the Shock is 3-8 ATS against the Eastern Conference.
