After playing the first two games at cavernous Washington, the teams move to hitter-friendly Wrigley Field. And both teams are loaded with offensive talent with Washington ranked fifth in baseball in runs scored and ninth in on-base percentage, while the Cubs are fourth in runs scored and OBP. Nationals 33-year-old starter Max Scherzer is 0-3 in his last five postseason starts, including a 3.75 ERA in two outings in last year's NLDS against the Dodgers. Scherzer hasn't pitched since September 30 when he left his final regular-season start with what he called a "small tweak" in his right hamstring. Washington faces a Chicago team that is on a 19-7 run at home, 43-17 against a right-handed starter, plus 36-15 following an off day. Lefty starter Jose Quintana has gone 7-3 with a 3.74 ERA in 14 starts since the Cubs traded for him. The Cubs have won his last six starts, posting a 2.82 ERA over that span. He had a brilliant last month, going unbeaten in 32 innings with 36 Ks and only four walks. Quintana has never faced the Nationals and has not walked a left-handed batter since July 23, facing 58 lefties during that stretch. Chicago is 22-12 OVER the total at home against a starting pitcher who gives up 5.5 or less hits per start, plus 8-2 OVER after a day off, so back home field in an offensive show. Play the CUBS and the OVER.
