The Red Raiders opened the season at 7-0 and looked to be a team that was viable for a National Championship run. But then the wheels fell off as they closed the season with five straight losses. SO, o when you look at this game, it seems to be an impossible task to slow down the offense of the Arizona State Sun Devils. Before the towel is thrown in, however, have a look at Oregon State. The Beavers had won six straight before losing each of their last five, and did not score more than 35 in any of the five losses. They came out for redemption in their Bowl game and hung 38 on Boise State in a 15 point win. The 2011 Illinois Illini started the season at 6-0, and finished with six straight losses, but won their Bowl game outright. Texas Tech mirrors the Oregon State team as they get most of their offense through the air and can score quickly. Arizona State lost to Stanford in the Pac-12 Championship, and go from a BCS Bowl to the Holiday Bowl, and their motivation here will be far less than Texas Tech. The Red Raiders have one last chance to right a bad finish and I think they play with a ton of intensity and purpose. Play on Texas Tech.
