Southern Miss at Appalachian State

Most don't know a whole lot about Scott Satterfield at Appalachian State. He has a program fairly new to the FBS, and he has built a powerhouse. His teams are driven by defense, and his record over the last three years plus two games this season is 31-10. He has reached and won a Bowl game in each of the past three years. The catalyst of his team's has been the defense. The last three years points allowed look like this: 2017, 20.2, 2016, 17.8. In 2015 was just 19.1. The Mountaineers will take on a team steeped in Bowl history in Southern Mississippi. The Eagles have played a bit of defense of their own, allowing just 28 points combined in their first two games. The Eagles have been careless with the ball, committing seven turnovers in the two games, but the defense has made up for most of that, forcing six of their own.
