SANTA ANITA Race #7
Thursday 05/22 04:05 PM Eastern
Top pick: #5 (SEA JOHN'S SPIRIT) (2-1) - Stalker has been freshened up just a bit after a pair of back-to-back second-place finishes here at this level in March and April. Her works are solid, Talamo stays aboard, and lightly raced 6-year-old gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #6 (Prayer Be Mine) (9-5) - Dangerous foe, lightly-raced daughter of "California Chrome's" sire "Lucky Pulpit" set a quick and pressured pace before weakening late facing tougher on May 1st. It was her first since Nov. 22 and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer has worked her twice since. Blinkers go on and she's a strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #1 (Pay the Debt) (7-2) - Since late Dec., this heavily raced 3-year-old has gone 6-1-4-0 and last out finished second, four lengths in front of "Prayer Be Mine." Stalker has the rail and is a threat down the stretch.
