Houston destroyed the Giants 11-2 on Tuesday and now has Justin Verlander on the mound tonight and he has been lights out this season with a 5-2 record and 1.05 ERA. Verlander has not allowed more than two runs in any of his last eight starts and he comes off a 2-0 shutout of the Angels last Wednesday. He has extra rest for this matchup after throwing 118 pitches and opponents are batting just .148 against Verlander. Jeff Samardzija has been almost the opposite with a 6.30 ERA and San Francisco has lost his last three starts. The Giants have lost four of their last six overall and are just 10-15 on the road this year and have lost 38 of their last 56 road contests dating to last season. They are also 22-49 their last 71 road games versus right-handed starters. Houston has won five of its last six games and eight of its last 10 interleague home games.
