WIN

Manhattan lost a lot from a 20 win season from a year ago, including their head coach. They were beaten in their opener, a stunner to New Jersey Tech, but since have gone on to win their last two. The Jaspers have feasted on turnovers, as opponents have turned the ball over 21 times a game. They have two solid frontcourt players in Dubois and Austin, but the guards have had trouble hitting from the outside, as the team is just 11-46 from beyond the arc (less than 25%). Princeton returns 4 starters, and the key is frosh Marcus Schroeder. The Tigers lacked an efficient point guard that could run the Princeton offense, without turning the ball over last year. Schroeder is the missing dimension, as he has 15 assists to just 6 turnovers through 3 games, or a 2.5 to 1 ration, which is excellent. What makes this game for us is what happened vs NJ Tech. Manhattan has scorers inside, but nothing on the perimeter. Tech employed a zone, forced Manhattan to shoot outside, and they proceeded to go 4-24 from 3. Princeton is going to zone the Jaspers, because they simply can't match-up otherwise. This will force Manhattan into hitting shots from the perimeter, and that is not their strength. A team that is living off turnovers faces a disiplined Princeton team that turns the ball over just 13 times a game, and with a competent point guard, and a team that can hit the 3 (39% through 3 games). The bottom line is Manhattan shot 33% vs NJ Tech, and it was due to the zone, which they will see plenty of tonight.
