Premium Pick
(# 5) PREMIUM TAP - Have made this selection with mostly a wagering strategy in mind. He has picked up his game considerably in the past 10 months from being just a very good upper-allowance runner to a top horse in the most prestigious races anywhere. Ran a great race in the Breeders Cup Classic, when he encountered problems at the start, and then went through the roof in the Clark Handicap at Churchill three weeks after the Classic which was also ran at Churchill. Love the fact that he has been in Dubai for quite some time and really likes the race and win in Saudi Arabia which was accomplished without Lasix which is illegal in this juristiction. I'm not convinced he is better than the two "name" horses, but he will fire a big race and we'll "key" him in the exactas.

(# 1) DISCREET CAT - Hard not to be impressed by lightly raced runners record and visually impressive performances. Defeated Invasor, in the UAE Derby over this track last March. Was never asked to run in any of his races in North America and the rider appeared to be piloting a high octane car instead of a horse. He got immediate response when he asked for run. Draws the rail and presumably will use it to either set or stalk without giving up the coveted fence position.

(# 7) INVASOR - Another who has impressed me greatly on occasion. Has overcome adversity in more than one race and you have to love his competitive instinct. Won his five starts in North America over five different tracks, some of them with very distinct differences - the sign of a tough competitor. Only loss occurred here against Discreet Cat, and the no Lasix factor may hurt him more than the others.

The Plays: $10 exacta boxes on 5-1 and 5-7.
Total Wager = $40.00.
