Indiana was favored in Game One of the playoffs at home the last game and blew it, losing 75-66. They face an excellent Atlanta defense, one ranked third in the WNBA in field goal shooting defense (41%) and that was the story in Game One. Indiana fell behind by ten in the first quarter and could never get going, shooting 40% for the game, 23% from long range and getting killed on the glass by Atlanta, 40-29. Home court allowed Indiana to take almost twice as many free throws (19-10), but it didn't help and now they have to head out on the road where they've been pretty much a .500 team (9-8). The Indiana Fever is 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record. Meanwhile Atlanta is confident, in command and at home, where they are 11-6 straight up. WNBA scoring leader Angel McCoughtry added 16 points and nine rebounds for Atlanta in Game one, which beat Indiana in three games in the East finals a year ago. The experienced Dream has reached the WNBA Finals each of the last two years and opened the playoffs with a road win for the third straight year. This is not a healthy or cohesive Indiana team as starting guards Briann January and Shavonte Zellous returned to the Fever lineup after missing the last three games of the regular season due to concussion-like symptoms making this a tough spot for the desperate visitors. Play the Atlanta Dream in Game two.
