DEL MAR Race #4
Wednesday 08/13 03:35 PM Eastern
Top pick: #5 (PERFECT SET) (5-2) - Gelding comes off a career best figure when he finished third here at this tag July 24th. It was his first race in eight weeks and he was claimed that day by Bob Diodoro (29% off the claim). He's worked him since and brings him back quickly at the purchase price. The top pick.
2nd pick: #7 (Brazilian Court) (6-1) - He exits the same July 24th race as "Perfect Set" and was 4 1/2 back of that rival after chasing the early pace. Racing into shape following a year's layoff and he's a threat with a bit more improvement.
3rd pick: #4 (Bench Press) (5-1) - Stretch-out sprinter is working nicely for his first start since June 21st. Colt has the best early speed and could prove tough to catch if he gets an easy early lead.
4th pick: #3 (Goyan) (4-1) - He has a bit of speed, but "Bench Press" is faster. He's racing first off a Ron Ellis claim (21%) and can factor if able to rate a bit.
5th pick: #9 (Vibrato Jazz) (5-1) - From the same barn (Ron Ellis) as "Goyan," he's taking a big drop in class and will be racing on a synthetic surface for the first time. No-speed type may rally for a share.
