Colorado at Miami

The Miami Marlins dumped all their big salaried free agents going into last season, and paid the price as they had an awful season. The brightest spot, however, will be on the mound for the opener when they send Jose Fernandez to the mound. Fernandez pitched to a remarkable 13-6 record, considering the Marlin's futility, with a glistening 2.19 ERA. Fernandez grew with the season as he allowed two or less runs in each of his last 11 starts, and was a perfect 9-0 at home. Fernandez held the Rockies to a single run in two starts over 14 innings a year ago. The Rockies have always held an edge at home, but are just 15-36 in their last 51 on the road, and this is a daunting task against arguably the best pitcher in baseball right now. Play on Miami.
