Top pick: #14 (DELHOMME) - This race has been switched to the main-track and there are a quartet of horses that were entered for the dirt only. Colt rallied to finish second when debuting at saratoga in a 6 furlong sprint on Aug. 25. Trainer Todd Pletcher (35% second-time out) has him working fast for thia and he stretches him out in distnce. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #13 (Indy's Illusion) - Colt by "A.P. Indy" rallied to finish second on a sloppy surface at Saratoga on August 11th and trainer Barclay Tagg has worked him six times since, and all have been on the quick side. Very dangerous and I almost made him the top choice.
3rd pick: #1a (Overwhelming) - Like most of trainer "Shug" McGaughey's runners he didn't show much in his debut, but colt by "Hard Spun" was away slowly and race wide and evenly. He's worked a half-dozen times since and the last pair have come on this surface. Look for a much improved effort this afternoon.
4th pick: #11 (Israal) - Grey colt raced evenly when debuting in a two-turn turf contest at saratoga on August 29th. Excellent second out barn (Kiaran McLaughlin 28%), has him working fats and will switch him to the dirt. Price play.
