Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #2 (CATAPULT) (5-2) - Lightly raced 4yo was a stakes winner on this course Nov. 24 when he scored in the $125,000 Gio Ponti Stakes. He made one start in Florida during the winter when he was beaten three lengths in a G3 stakes Feb. 11 at Tampa Bay Downs. Son of turf specialist 'Kitten's Joy' was working both frequently and above average before shipping North and looks set for a big race.
2nd pick: #6 (Macagone) (5-1) - New York bred ships from Gulfstream where he raced evenly in a pair of 'graded' stakes. Very wide from an outside post Jan. 14, he had traffic issues at the start March 4. Speed/stalker has won three of four starts on this turf course, and he's dangerous at a square price.
3rd pick: #5 (Il Secreto) (6-1) - French import hasn't raced since Nov. 6 and returns as a NEW gelding. A solid allowance type in his native country, he's been working steadily at Payson Park in Florida for his return. It's noted that this is his favorite distance (11-4-4-0).
4th pick: #4 (Gold Shield) (5-1) - He's moving up in class after rallying to win facing weaker at Tampa Bay Downs March 11. Strong finisher makes his stakes debut, but this 'long winded' type seems better going farther. A fast and/or contested pace would help his prospects out.
