Peter Laviolette won his first game as coach of the Washington Capitals, 6-4, against Buffalo as T.J. Oshie had a goal and two assists. Now the Caps get to do it again tonight against the Sabres with Ilya Samsonov hoping to have a better game than Thursday when he allowed four goals, but he still got the win. Linus Ullmark is expected in net for the Sabres after Carter Hutton gave up five goals last night. Samsonov finished last season with a 2.55 goals-against average, #11 in the league. Buffalo is 40-94 its last 134 games playing on no rest, and the Sabres have lost seven of their last eight games dating to last season. Washington has won 13 of the last 17 meetings.
