Washington comes off a 4-2 loss to Pittsburgh on Friday night after winning its previous two games and Ilya Samsonov allowed three goals. Vitek Vanecek is probable for tonight's game and he owns a 2.56 goals-against average and was the winner when the Capitals beat Buffalo 5-3 on Nov. 8. The Sabres have lost six in a row and have serious goaltender problems with most of them injured and newly-acquired Malcolm Subban is likely to start even though he has been dealing with a lower-body injury. Subban was in net against Carolina last Saturday and allowed six goals in a 6-2 loss. The Capitals have won five straight after scoring two or fewer goals their previous game and they are 10-3 playing on no rest.
