New York at Buffalo

This is an excellent buy-low spot on the Rangers. New York opened its season with a disappointing 3-0 home loss to Pittsburgh. The Sabres have yet to play a regular-season game. They concluded preseason action by losing three of their last four games. Buffalo last made the NHL playoffs during the 2010–11 season. That is the longest playoff drought in NHL history. The Rangers outperformed the Sabres last season, and they should do so again this season. New York has far more offense than it showed against the Penguins. The Sabres were one of the worst defensive teams in the league last season, tied for 29th in goals allowed. The Rangers have a clear goalie edge with Igor Shesterkin confirmed in net. He is 10-3-2 in 15 games against Buffalo, with a 2.59 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. Alex Lyon is likely to be in goal for the Sabres. Lyon had a 2.89 goals against average and a .894 save percentage last season. Take the Rangers.
