New York at Carolina

Both teams are playing their openers and New York will begin a 13-game road trip before returning home to open its new home in UBS Arena. The Islanders have retained most of their players from last season when they made it to the semifinals and Ilya Sorokin will likely be in net tonight as Semyon Varlamov has a minor injury. Carolina still has plenty of skill and depth and will have Frederik Andersen in net this year along with Antti Raanta. Andersen was 13-8-3 with a 2.96 goals-against average last season for Toronto and in eight seasons has a career 2.65 GAA and .915 save percentage. The Islanders have lost eight straight to Carolina, which won nine of its last 13 home games and the Hurricanes are 56-27 as home favorites. Play the Hurricanes.
