New Jersey at Florida

The New Jersey Devils open the season with three straight road games, and there is nothing like getting that first one under your belt as the offense produced 6 goals in a win vs. Philadelphia. That is good news for a team that failed to record a road win last year until their eighth roadie, and started the season at 0-7. Florida has been in the doldrums for the last few seasons, and a disappointing overtime loss to Tampa Bay can't help their egos as they are coming off a horrible season. Dating back to last season, the Panthers are now 8-23 over their last 31 games, and it doesn't appear things are changing this season. Their 23-55 mark in their last 78 games on a day of rest bodes poorly here as well. The Devils have owned this series at 48-20-3 in the last 71 meetings, and will take charge in this one.
