Florida at San Jose

Florida opened its season Tuesday with a 1-0 overtime win at Carolina, and Jacob Markstrom stopped all 15 shots he faced. Akira Schmid is expected in net tonight against a San Jose team that opens its season with Yaroslav Askarov. Schmid finished last season at .893 in save percentage, and Askarov at .884, but Florida allowed the 28th-fewest goals in the league while San Jose allowed the 30th-fewest. Each team scored 251 goals last season, a mid-pack total, and their two meetings ended with four and five total goals. San Jose won both, and Florida scored one goal in each. Florida also needed 20 shots and overtime to score once against Carolina on Tuesday before making the long trip west. The Panthers have a lot of firepower but know how much this young Sharks team has, too. I'm looking for them to set the tempo here and make scoring chances hard to come by. Take the UNDER tonight.
