Edmonton at Detroit

Edmonton is in a stop-the-pain mold, having lost two in a row. The Oilers come to Detroit, taking on a Red Wings team that is fat and happy with four straight underdog victories. The Red Wings' last win was especially satisfying. Detroit edged Tampa Bay, 2-1, at home two days ago. The Oilers lost to the Devils, 5-3, on Saturday. Edmonton also lost to the Islanders, 4-2, on the road Thursday. It has been 50 games since the Stanley Cup runner-up Oilers have lost three straight games. Stuart Skinner is projected to be in goal for Edmonton since Calvin Pickard was in the net on Saturday. Skinner is the stronger choice, having a 1.97 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage through three games. Backup goalie John Gibson will be a net for Detroit. Gibson has a 3.56 goals against average this season. The Red Wings won't have one of their offensive weapons as Patrick Kane is out with an upper-body injury. Detroit has to contend with Edmonton's two superstars, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, who have 16 points in 17 career games against Detroit.
