The Avalanche is not the same team they were earlier this season. Since a blazing 31‑2‑7 start, the Avalanche are only 5-8. They have dropped four games by three or more goals in their last eight games. Injuries have contributed to Colorado's recent decline. Team captain Gabriel Landeskog and star defenseman Devon Toews remain out of Colorado's lineup with injuries, and center Martin Necas may not play either due to a lower-body injury.
